In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the Heart Foundation has been forced to cancel some of the well known events that surround Heart Week - including the Heart Foundation Walking Groups. Despite this, we at Peak Pharmacies and our friends at the Heart Foundation want to remind you all of the importance of keeping active and keeping your heart healthy during these uncertain times.
"When it comes to getting active, the Heart Foundation recommends that we all aim to do:
150 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity each week
muscle-strengthening activities on at least 2 days each week
Being active at these levels can reduce your risk of heart disease by up to 35%, boost your general health and your mental health".
The Heart Foundation also recommends eating a healthy, balanced diet not only throughout isolation, but always. This helps promote heart health and reduces risk of heart illness. They suggest tips like being prepared, choosing healthy proteins over red meat, have set mealtimes to avoid snacking and get inspired and brush up on your cooking skills!
